WELCOME BACK TO SOME NEEDED NORMALCY

FIRST FACE-TO-FACE MEETING SINCE THE PANDEMIC

We hosted our first meeting of the Contractors Business Development Group meeting this month at the Lamar State College-Port Arthur Gymnasium. The pandemic made us shuffle and think outside the box. Travis Woods along with sponsors produced podcasts to be viewed within our group over the past several months. We had other Contractors Groups give updates from Baton Rouge, Lake Charles, Corpus Christi, and the Woodlands. Members of the group were sent a link and a time to view the podcast.  At one point we had over 2,000 contractors from Port Arthur and all along the Gulf Coast region join in to listen.

These sessions were good, but our local group needed some normalcy and face time with others in their field. We had over 175 contractors attend this meeting with excitement, big smiles, and ready to listen and learn about job needs in our region. Scott Street with Lamar State College-Port Arthur opened stadium seating in the gymnasium so that guests could socially distance and masks were required upon entry. The Chamber aided in protection by providing masks and hand sanitizer. Our breakfast sponsor Mobiloil Credit Union updated the group about business loan and account information. They also provided wrapped breakfast burritos, beverages, and gave a door prize to a lucky recipient.

Travis Woods, Chairman gave updates that included:  Six Month Recap Since We Saw You

Last-Podcast Subjects, Valero PA/Diamond Green Diesel, Port Arthur LNG Project, Golden

Pass LNG, TPC Damage, and Clean Up and Damage Status: Venture Global LNG, Cameron LNG,

Citgo West Lake Chemicals, Bio-Lab Fire. This group is part of the Greater Port Arthur

Chamber of Commerce, call Paige Snyder to join.

This year has made us think outside the box on more efficient ways to communicate within

this technical world we live and work in.
